You and your team pour hours, days, sometimes weeks into crafting detailed proposals. You hit submit, cross your fingers, and wait. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But do you actually know how often you’re successful? When I ask clients, ‘What’s your win rate?’, I often get answers based on gut feelings or recent memory – “We win a fair few,” or “We lost a big one last month.” Relying on anecdotes isn’t a strategy; it’s flying blind, hoping for the best without truly understanding your performance.
If you’re new to business writing, you’re likely eager to craft a compelling narrative that showcases your clients’ value proposition. However, even the most insightful analysis can fall flat without a strong conclusion. Think of this section as your final chance to leave a lasting impression on your readers.
I’m increasingly using ChatGPT for different writing related tasks. To be clear, I’m not asking it to write original text for me, rather to help with the support tasks, such as research, analysis, proofing, and validation.

So, before you start writing a ‘me’ focused proposal, let’s look at how to step back, study the ask from the client’s point of view, so you can craft a response that zeroes in on their specific needs.
