What is Change Control?

A change control task is a single activity that is performed to implement a change control request.

In software testing, change control refers to a discrete item that must be carried out as part of the change control process, for example, when a change request is received to change a piece of software.

An Excel change control log tracks Requests For Change (RFCs); the progress of each change from submission through review, signoff, deployment and closure using filters, conditional text, and functions.

What is a Change Control Log?

A Change Control Log is an Excel spreadsheet or Word form that is used to identify the basis for the change; confirms whether it is disapproved or approved; track the change with a unique Software Change Request (SCR) number; identify the date submitted;  track its status: on hold, in progress, or canceled.
