MadCap Flare: Displaying Navigation Links in WebHelp Standalone Topics

In this MadCap Flare technical writing tutorial, we look at how to add a navigation link to the top or bottom of topics in HTML5, WebHelp, WebHelp AIR, or WebHelp Plus outputs.

This link is not displayed unless the output topic is opened as a standalone. If you click the link, you can view the standalone topic in the main navigation framework. At Klariti, we use MadCap Flare (and Word) to write technical documents. Contact us if we can help.

MadCap Flare: Displaying Navigation Links in WebHelp Standalone Topics

To modify the skin styles open the Skin Editor, Styles tab, expand the Control group, and set the values for the Navigation Link Bottom and Navigation Link Top properties.

For HTML5, open the Skin Editor, Styles tab, expand the Navigation Link group, and set the values for the Bottom and Top properties.

  1. Open a Standard or HTML5
  2. If you opened a Standard skin, select the WebHelp Setup If you opened an HTML5 skin, select the Setup tab.
  3. In the Topic Settings section, click Show navigation link at top of topic or Show navigation link at bottom of topic.
